Creating an application on ApplyBoard takes just a few steps. This guide walks you through the full process — from selecting a program to submitting your first application.
Note: Before you create an application, you will need a complete student profile and a program selected from Search. If you have not done these yet, see How to Create a Student Profile and How to Search for Programs first.
What You Will Need
- A completed student profile on ApplyBoard
- A program selected from Search
- Up to 10 backup programs (optional but recommended)
Step 1: Start the Application
Once you have found the program you want to apply to in Search, click Create application on the program card.
Step 2: Select the Student
In the New Application form, select the student's name from the dropdown menu. ApplyBoard will automatically check whether the student is eligible for the program.
Note: If the student is not eligible, a warning message will appear explaining what profile information needs to be updated. Click Update profile data to go directly to the student's profile and make the required changes.
Click Next to continue.
Step 3: Select the Intake
From the dropdown menu, select the academic intake the student wishes to start their studies.
Click Next to continue.
Step 4: Review Prerequisites
ApplyBoard will show you any prerequisites the student must meet to apply to the program. Review these carefully. If the student does not meet the prerequisites, the application will not proceed.
Warning! If a student does not meet the listed prerequisites, their application will be cancelled. Confirm eligibility before proceeding.
Step 5: Select Backup Programs
You can add up to 10 backup programs to the application. Backup programs give your student alternative options if their first-choice program is unavailable. The Application Journey Tracker will prompt you to add backups to avoid delays.
Tip! Adding backup programs is strongly recommended. If the primary program becomes unavailable, your student's application can move forward without starting from scratch.
Click Next when you are ready.
Step 6: Review What to Expect
The final step of the application wizard shows a summary of the requirements the student must complete before the application can be submitted to the institution. Review this carefully so you know what is coming next.
Click Create Application to confirm.
Step 6: Pay for the Application
Once the application is created, you will see a warning at the top of the application page confirming that it will not be processed until payment is received. Click Submit payment now to proceed.
Note: In some cases, you will need to complete prepayment requirements before you can pay. These will be listed on the application if applicable.
For full payment instructions, see How to Pay for an Application.
Step 7: Complete Application Requirements
After paying, you will need to complete all outstanding requirements on the application before ApplyBoard can review and submit it to the institution. Requirements may include uploading documents, answering questions, and completing application forms.
For a full guide to requirements, see Application Requirements.
Tip! Once payment is made and all requirements are complete, your application is officially in the ApplyBoard queue. Our team will evaluate the application from there. See our guide on how to submit a strong application for advice on getting it right first time.
With your first application submitted, you can track its progress and manage outstanding tasks from your dashboard.
