Students: How to Apply for Accommodation with University Living
We are thrilled to announce our new partnership with University Living—an accommodation service designed to help students like you find a place to call home.
As more students search for quality housing, University Living is transforming the student housing experience. Since its launch in March 2016, it has been a global marketplace specializing in Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA), making it easier for you to find a safe, comfortable place while you focus on your studies and achieve your academic goals.
Types of Student Accommodations
University Living offers various types of student accommodations:
- Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA)
- Private Apartments/Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs)
- Homestays
PBSA provides fully furnished housing specifically designed for students. Here are some key features:
- Proximity: Most PBSA is located near universities, with easy access to public transport.
- Inclusive Utilities: Rent covers all utility bills, such as gas, electricity, and water.
- Amenities: Student-friendly facilities like Wi-Fi, gyms, and laundry services are available.
- Community Engagement: PBSA often hosts cultural activities and networking events to enhance your living experience.
- Fixed Tenancy: Lease terms align with academic semesters, giving you stability.
Overall, PBSA is designed to offer you a comfortable and supportive living space, helping you focus on your studies and enjoy your time at university.
HMOs come with certain legal responsibilities to ensure your safety and comfort, including:
- Safety Standards: Properties must meet fire and general safety regulations.
- Water Management: Proper management of water supply and drainage.
- Safety Inspections: Regular checks for gas and electricity safety.
- Clean Communal Areas: Keeping shared spaces clean.
- Waste Disposal: Proper management of waste.
- Maintenance: Upkeep of all living areas.
Students can choose from full-service apartments, either shared or private, allowing for a personal living space.
Homestays are like bed and breakfasts, usually run by families. Key characteristics include:
- Family-Run: The host family provides personalized attention to students.
- Accommodation Types: You may stay in the main family home or in separate nearby rooms.
- Flexible Interaction: You can choose how much time to spend with your host family, whether dining together or having longer conversations.
Homestays offer a unique opportunity to experience local culture and enjoy a supportive living environment.
