This notice explains how we process personal data when you participate in our UK Institution Survey regarding the UK Government’s International Education Strategy.

2. What personal data do we collect?
We may collect:
- Name
- Business email address
- Job title/role
- Institution name
- Survey responses
- Technical data (such as IP address, browser type, and device information collected automatically by the survey platform)
The survey does not request sensitive or special category personal data.
3. Why do we collect this data?
We collect your data to:
- Conduct research into how UK institutions are responding to the UK International Education Strategy
- Analyse trends at an aggregated level
- Inform ApplyBoard’s industry publications, insights, and internal strategy
Survey results will be analysed primarily in aggregate form. Individual institutions or respondents will not be identified in any publication without separate, explicit consent.
4. Lawful basis for processing
Under the UK GDPR, our lawful basis is:
Legitimate Interests (Article 6(1)(f))
Specifically:
- Conducting B2B market research relevant to our existing institutional partnerships
- Improving understanding of sector trends
- Developing industry insights and thought-leadership content
You may object to this processing at any time (see Section 7).
5. Quotes and attribution
If we would like to include your name, role, institution, or direct quotation in any article or publication, we will contact you separately to obtain your explicit consent before doing so.
Participation in the survey alone does not constitute consent for attribution.
6. Who will receive your data?
Your data may be accessed by:
- ApplyBoard’s Marketing and Commercial Partnerships teams
- Our legal/privacy team
- Our survey platform provider (acting as a data processor)
We do not sell your personal data.
7. Data retention
We will retain:
- Raw survey data for up to 12 months after survey closure
- Aggregated and anonymised insights for longer-term analytical and reporting purposes
8. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Request correction
- Request deletion
- Restrict or object to processing
- Withdraw from the survey at any time
- Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)
