Before you hit "Submit" on your first application, gathering the right documents is the most important step you can take. Having high-quality, clear scans of your records ready to go will speed up the review process and help you avoid delays.
While every school has unique requirements, almost all will require these "Big Three" document categories.
Proof of Identity (Passport)
Your passport is your primary identification for international study.
What you need: A clear, color scan of the photo page (and the signature page, if separate).
Validity Check: Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended start date.
Formatting: Ensure all four corners of the page are visible in the scan and that there is no glare from a camera flash.
Academic Records (Transcripts & Certificates)
Schools need to see your full academic history to verify your eligibility.
Transcripts: You will need a record of all subjects taken and grades received (e.g., High School Marksheets or University Semester Grade Reports).
Graduation Certificates: Proof that you successfully completed your previous level of study (e.g., your Diploma or Degree).
Certified Translations: If your documents are not in English (or the primary language of your destination country), you must provide a copy of the original document alongside a certified translation.
Proof of English Proficiency
Most international programs require proof that you can succeed in an English-speaking classroom.
Accepted Tests: Have your official score reports ready for tests like IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or Duolingo.
Score Validity: Most English test scores are only valid for two years. Make sure yours won't expire before your program starts!

ApplyBoard Success Tips
Use PDF Format: Unless otherwise stated, upload your documents as high-quality PDFs. Avoid using low-resolution photos taken on a phone in a dark room.
Label Your Files: Give your files clear names like
Firstname_Lastname_Passport.pdforFirstname_Lastname_HighSchool_Transcript.pdf. This helps admissions officers stay organized.Original Documents: Always scan your original graduation certificates and transcripts. Avoid scanning photocopies, as schools often reject them for being "unofficial" or unclear.
Back to Front: If your transcript has a grading scale or legend on the back, make sure to scan that page as well! Admissions officers may need it to calculate your GPA accurately.
