University of Prince Edward Island Fees for International Students

UPEI publishes its tuition and mandatory fees for each academic year. The total cost of studying depends on your program, faculty, course load, and student status. For the 2026–2027 academic year, the university's published fee schedule includes the following charges:

  • International application fee: CAD $100.
  • International undergraduate deposit: CAD $3,000.
  • International graduate course-based deposit: CAD $3,000.
  • International graduate thesis-based deposit: CAD $1,000.

UPEI publishes its exact tuition through an online fee calculator rather than a single printed table, since the amount depends on your faculty, program, and course load. Use the official UPEI Tuition and Fees Selector to get the exact current rate for your program.

Other Student Fees

Full-time international students at UPEI are automatically enrolled in the mandatory International Student Medical Plan administered by the UPEI Student Union (UPEISU).

Additional charges may apply for laboratory courses, professional programs, co-operative education, and other program-specific services.

International Student Scholarships

UPEI offers entrance awards and other scholarships to help eligible international students finance their education.

The International Entrance Award Cycle provides awards ranging from CAD $1,000 to $3,000 to eligible international students entering UPEI from high schools in Canada or other countries.

Applicants are considered during the admission evaluation process. Selection criteria include:

  • Strong high school academic performance, generally with a converted average between 90% and 100%, or equivalent academic standing.
  • Participation in extracurricular activities, volunteering, sports, arts, or other relevant experiences.
  • Strong recommendations from teachers or instructors.
  • English-language proficiency and demonstrated potential for academic development and leadership.

Successful students have their award credited to their UPEI student account. Awards are limited and depend on available funding, so early applications are encouraged.

Additional scholarships and awards may require separate applications. Review UPEI's International Student Scholarships page and Scholarships and Awards Academic Calendar for current opportunities and eligibility criteria.
