Receiving a "Rejected" status on a document can feel like a setback, but it’s actually a vital part of the quality control that keeps your application moving toward an official "Accepted" letter. Whether it’s a blurry photo or an expired ID, fixing these errors is a straightforward process.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to identify the issue and get your application back on track in just a few clicks.

If one of your uploaded documents or answers is deemed unacceptable by the ApplyBoard team, it will be marked as Rejected. On your application page, these items are easily identified by a red "X" and are grouped under the "Rejected" tab.

Step 1: Understand Why It Was Rejected

Before you re-upload anything, it is important to know exactly what needs to be fixed.

  • Locate the rejected requirement on your application.
  • Click the Details button.
  • Review the feedback provided in the Requirement Evaluation section. This will tell you if the image was blurry, the document was expired, or if specific information was missing.

Step 2: Resubmit the Requirement

Once you have the correct information or a better version of your document:

  1. Click the blue Reattempt button on the requirement row.
  2. Follow the prompts to upload the new file or provide the corrected answer.
  3. Submit your changes.

After you click "Reattempt" and submit, the status will update, and the ApplyBoard team will be notified to review your application again.

A Few Quick Tips for Success

  • Check the resolution: Ensure all text on uploaded documents is clear and legible.
  • File types: Double-check that you are using the accepted file formats (like PDF, JPEG, or PNG).
  • Full Documents: Make sure you haven't cropped out any important margins, signatures, or official stamps.

Use the Document Consistency Check: To help you avoid rejections, ApplyBoard uses a Document Consistency Check that provides instant feedback on your application uploads. This system automatically flags issues like blurry text or incorrect formats before you even submit. By catching these common errors early, you can fix them on the spot and avoid the "Rejected" status altogether.

A rejection isn’t a "no"—it’s just a request for more clarity. By carefully reviewing the feedback in your student portal and utilizing the Document Consistency Check, you can ensure that your next submission is the final one. Remember, taking an extra minute to check the lighting on your scan or the expiration date on your passport today can save you weeks of processing delays later.
