Once you have selected a program and started your application, the ApplyBoard platform generates a personalized Pending Requirements list. Think of this as your interactive roadmap to a successful submission.
Because every school and country has different rules, your list is unique to your specific application. Here is how to navigate your requirements and get your application across the finish line.
Important: Complete Your Profile First
Before diving into your requirements, ensure your ApplyBoard Student Profile is 100% complete. You may see a notification stating:
“Your profile is not complete yet — finish it to view all mandatory requirements.”
Why this matters: ApplyBoard uses your profile details (like your nationality, education history, and test scores) to determine exactly which documents the school requires. If your profile is incomplete, some mandatory tasks may be hidden, and your task list could change once you provide that information.
Understanding the Requirements Labels
On your application page, you will see a list of actions. Pay close attention to the labels next to each requirement name, as they tell you when each item needs to be completed:
No Label (Blank): If a requirement has no specific label, it is Required immediately. You cannot submit your application to the school until these are finished.
Before Payment: These requirement must be completed before you can pay your application fees and officially send your file to the school.
Optional: These requirements are helpful but not mandatory (for example, applying for a student loan).
Required Later: These are items you will eventually need for your visa or final enrollment, but you can submit your initial application without them for now.
ApplyBoard Tip: Want to see exactly what is standing between you and your submission? Select the Filters button at the top of your requirement list and choose Required. This will hide all optional requirements and show you only the items ApplyBoard needs to review and submit your application!
How to Complete a Requirement
Each item in your list has two main ways to interact with it:
The Answer Button: This is your Action button. Clicking Answer will open the upload screen where you can attach your PDF or type in the requested information (like your Emergency Contact or Postal Code).
-
Finding Task Details: If you aren't sure what a document should look like or why it is required, you can find more information in two ways:
Click the Details button directly on the task.
If you don’t see a Details button, click the three vertical dots (⋮) on the right side of the task and select View Details.
ApplyBoard Tip: Once you click Answer and upload a file, the requirement will move from Pending to In Review. Our experts will then review it to ensure it meets the school's standards!
Why Does My Requirements List Look Different?
If you are applying to two different schools, you might notice two different requirements lists. This is because ApplyBoard’s system automatically updates your requirements based on:
The School’s Policy: Some universities require a CV or Letter of Intent, while others do not.
Your Destination Country: Different countries have different legal requirements for student identity and health records.
Your Personal Profile: Based on the information you provided in your profile, we may ask for specific documents that the school requires.
